BRING IT

So I haven't updated in a while. As per usual. So I think I'll update.

In recent news, One-Act auditions are going on this weekend! Callbacks start today. Callbacks are always such a fun time, because everything is so unexpected! All the shows are very unique and cool in their own ways, and it's cool because there isn't just one role in particular that I'm dying for or anything. I just want to be a part of something!
In other theatrical news, Crazy For You is going very well, we already had our act one run-through- and I've basically already blocked and run all of my scenes off-book already including Naughty Baby, which is completely ridiculous and so. much. fun. Also we got to see all our costume sketches- and they are FABULOUS. I'm so excited to see how this show comes together! It's just going to be such a huge spectacle of sequins, tapping, singing, and just ridiculous comedy. Such a major contrast to the other show this semester- A Piece of My Heart, haha. But yeah. I'm totally excited about it! =]

In other news in my life, I have undertaken going through the P90X workout program. For those that don't know much about it- I'll tell you: It's basically a series of workouts that you do on a schedule, depending on what you want to do. There is the classic version which includes more muscle building workouts, and the lean version which includes more fat burning/cardio. P90X comes with about 13 hour-long videos that all have a different workout on them. For example, one is Kenpo, which is a kickboxing cardio workout, one is Yoga which is actually 1 1/2 hours, one is chest/back/arms, one is legs/butt, one is just an overall Cardio video, one is Core Synergistics, which is a mixture of cardio and just working the core muscles, and there is also the Ab Ripper which is under 20 minutes, but is KILLER, and you do it after other workouts. When doing the program it gives you a calendar so you know which workout to do on each day. It is good for people that like a structure within your workouts- it's almost like having a personal trainer! Also, the teacher is really motivating and encouraging, and very energetic. The people on the background of the video are also really working out, sometimes they stumble, and they don't always have plastered on smiles like some of the women in some of the workout videos I have done. Also each exercise has a countdown timer, so you know how much longer you have until you switch.
I really like the program because it switches things up so much that you never really get bored with what you are doing, and also because it KICKS YOUR BUTT. Now, I'm pretty much in shape I would say, and I have pretty good stamina, but there will be times that I just feel like passing out on the floor haha. It definitely would be challenging for people that are not physically active at all, but the instructor is very adamant about doing what you can, and that you shouldn't feel pressured to do the super-advanced option or anything. And if you stick with it, you will definitely get in shape!
I have been doing it every morning except for weekends, and I find that I have so much more energy throughout the day, and I just feel so much better. And it's nice that I can just do it in my home and not have to go to a gym or something.
So if you have been thinking about it at all, I would definitely look into it! It really is worth it if you stick to it. There is absolutely no way you can do this program and not gain muscle/lose weight/tone up.
I have also started eating really good again, really trying to cut out my sugar and carb habit and all. After my carb-fest of Valentine's day dinner (I cooked Penne ala Vodka, Roasted Broccoli, Italian Bread and a key lime pie) which I made so much of it served as a meal for like 2 days after, I have really kicked it into high-gear regarding nutrition and healthy eating, and I feel absolutely wonderful. It really is amazing how great you feel once you really stop putting junk into your body, and feeding it what it really wants, wholesome food with loads of nutritional value! (During my carb-fiesta, I totally felt gross. (Note to self: No matter what the occasion, never eat an entire plate of pasta and then bread for 2 days straight. It tastes good, but yeah. Just not good for your body. Ugh.) I know that if you are an avid reader of my blog that I sound like a broken record or something whenever I go on these health rants, but seriously. People need to stop eating pizza rolls as a meal and drinking Coke as water and wondering why they can't get up for class, or that they are getting sick all of the time and just feeling miserable! What you put into your body directly affects how you feel.

My favorite foods right now:
-Sweet potatoes
-Black beans
-Spinach
-Ezekiel bread
-oatmeal

I pretty much eat some sort of incarnation of these foods every day almost. I am also seriously contemplating starting a whole new blog regarding nutrition and eating and vegetarianism so that I can have free reign to go on rants whenever I want...haha. I think I'll call it SCREW SALADS. Because everyone thinks thats all vegetarians eat or something. I could post some of my favorite recipes and review things and also keep myself accountable, as well as post helpful articles and things. Hmm. Should I do it? I don't know. You tell me. If nobody does, I'll probably do it anyway. :P

New in Town

I just have to share with everyone my latest musical obsession as of late, the album "Hands" by Little Boots. It's a kind of electro-dance pop, lots of fun, with some really interesting sounds and beats. It definitely has an 80s feel to it with some Kylie Minogue thrown in. Some of the songs take a second or third listen to really get into, but once you do, they are addicting! I'm like that with the whole album, now, I just listen to it constantly.

So go check her out, "New in Town," "Remedy," "Meddle," "Mathematics" are some of my favorites!
